I Had A Medium Chemial Facial Peel Three Weeks Ago

I had a medium chemial facial peel three weeks ago and today as I was washing my face I mistakenly used my neutogena oil free acne wash instead of my cetaphil. I have been applying hydroquione as well 2x daily and long story short afther I realized I had used the neutogena and rinsed thouroghly I have major redness and burning with lots of acne like bumps. Have I caused permanent damage to my skin. It wasn't this red or irritated before this. My Dr is out of town but calling in a topical steroid cream. I'm really fearful of what I've mistakenly done. Please advise me.
