I Had A Mole On My Face That I Thought

I had a mole on my face that I thought has an infected hair. It hurt and the skin all around it was red. I took antibiotics and used Neosporin on it. It scabbed over. Now the scab came off and there is a deep groove in my face and it looks like the mole is gone. Why would that happen?
