I Had A Really Bad Coldsore Outbreak Last Night... Ive

I had a really bad coldsore outbreak last night... ive had one about a month ago but before that... its been over 10 years. This one particularly was sooo swollen and hurt that i went to a local walk on clinic. The perscribed me valacyclovir 1 gm tablets. And it says to take two pills twice daily... is this 1 gram tablet enough to help my coldsore ? Ive read online they reccomend 1000 -2000 grams... is that right ?
