I Had A Severe Stomach Infection Because Of A Double

I had a severe stomach infection because of a double mastectomy and reconstruction. the infection was scraped out and I was placed on a wound vac. for months . I was just recently informed that my muscles are not where they should be and are mostly on my right side so I have to have more surgery. my question is what could have possibly caused this to happen?
