I Had A Stroke 5 Years Ago. While I Didn't

I had a stroke 5 years ago. While I didn't seem to have any physical affects and already had some neck and back issues, it seems that i have spasms and muscle tightness up and down my left side. Would an EMG help diagnose what is causing my pain? Could my primary request this test or would I have to see a specialist?
