I Had A Stroke Last Year And Am Being Monitored

I had a stroke last year and am being monitored for afib. I have a pfo as well.
Im having trouble sleeping while sick with a hacking cough. all i have in the house is mucinex (which has a decongestant) and a prescription prometh w. codeine.
which is safer to take?
