I Had A Sudden Cough Attack That Got Harder And

I had a sudden cough attack that got harder and caused me to vomit plus horrible pins and needles all over my body especially down the arms and scalp and chest and some on legs. I used my inhaler of Ventolin and that caused more coughing and vomiting. I used my inhaler again since I coughed it all out. My coughing stopped but I still feel leftover itching and pins and needles where I got them during the coughing. What causes this and how can this be prevented?
