I had a tear in rt meniscus 2 yrs ago, had surgery with good results. Several weeks ago, while walking, I suddenly had a cramping in my other leg (calf area) and stopped, stretched and walked home albeit with a limp. I used ice, Advil and elevation for next several days. I then had a long flight X2 and after returning, I had increased pain causing me to limp. then while coming down the stairs, I heard and felt a pop and severe pain behind my knee with muscle spasms above and below knee. I again did RICE and used crutches for three days and slowly began to bear weight. I also saw the ortho PA . They did XRays and exam and I am making a good recovery so delayed MRI. So, I continue to get better (now 10 days since the pop), and have backed off on the RICE and take Advil twice a day. I have full extension and can bend and kneel on the knee. They mentioned a possible Bakers cyst rupture or maybe a calf muscle tear or of course meniscus tear. My question is....I know over time, it will either get better or I will be back for the MRI for a definitive diagnosis. Can I begin to take walks for exercise....not pushing it, but as tolerated?
