I Had A Tooth Extracted 6 Days Ago. The Oral

I had a tooth extracted 6 days ago. The Oral Surgeon put an X stitch in the gum. I was having extreme pain 2 days later and went to see the Surgeon again. He took the stitch out, irrigated the hole in my gum, there was food stuck in the hole, and then he put a medicated paste into the hole in the gum. I now have a raised bump on my gum where the tooth was extracted. What could it be?
