I Had A Tooth Extracted On 7/28 In The Afternoon

I had a tooth extracted on 7/28 in the afternoon (lower left #18)...fractured root (previous root canal approx 10 yrs prior). Extraction went ok but the next day lower jaw & neck very tender & swollen...couldn't turn my head to the left w/o alot pain. that area proceeded to turn red & got hotter throughout the day. Dr called in amoxicillin & I started that last night but had also taken penicillin from 7/16-7/23 from the Dentist visit that lead to the extraction. tenderness seems a little better but redness is kind of wider & now more centered on my neck. should I be concerned that something else is going on or is this normal? hurts to lean my head backwards in the shower when washing hair...
