I Had An Abcess To My Back That Opened On

I had an abcess to my back that opened on its own and I also took a course of abx. It was healing (Dr's said it looked good), but since I had abcess I have had Red around the healing abcess. on to of that abeds reopened so I have been cleaning, compressing, and covering. I've had no pain but not sure if redness around healing abcess is normal. Also during healing of abcess it continted to feel hard underneath. Is that normal as well?
