I Had An Insicional Hernia Repair At My Emerency C

I had an insicional hernia repair at my emerency c section vertical cut site. It has been repaired laproscopically, and with mesh and the hole is about 4inches by 6inches. I was told not to do ab exercises. I really want to get into pilates. I am 18 most op, will i ever be able to use my core again, can my muscles ever grow back?
