I Had Carpel Tunnel Release Surgery 2 Weeks And 3

I had carpel tunnel release surgery 2 weeks and 3 days ago. The surgery went well...I actually watched the whole thing. The sutures are disolvable. My healing was going very well and the wound was looking great until I noticed last night that it was starting to change...the skin near the sutures had become whitish. I didn't think much of it...wounds change as they heal. But tonight after I washed it I was drying it gently close to the wound and I guess I was pressing a little bit and it oozed puss. So I kept pushing around it gently to get as much of it out as I could...it started out yellow then pink and then finally it was clear...but it's still a little white around the sutures. It is not red, inflamed, or hot nor do I have a fever.
They are very clear about not using polysporin type creams on the incision so for the moment I have cleaned it well with a sterile saline wash...let it air dry then bandaged it. I had stopped using a bandage about 4 or 5 days ago when the wound looked scabby because I felt no need to bandage an unopened wound. But...over the last couple of days I have been doing a lot of the pt exercises I had been given quite a lot as my hand has become much less painful.
My questions are...
Should I get a health professional to have a look at it tomorrow?
Can I use a polysporin type of cream on it?
Could too much pt have weakened or cracked the scab causing it to be vulnerable to infection?
I am waiting on a surgery date (any day) for a hernia repair. Will having this infection in my hand delay that...can they go forward with the surgery even though I have an infection?
How long should a seemingly not serious or extensive infection like this take to heal?
The sutures have not yet dissolved...it's been over two weeks. Could that be partly why I have developed this infection?
Thank you so much in advance for your advise in this matter. I will look forward to hearing your opinions.
