I Had Chest Xrays (2) And Blood Tests Taken For

I had chest xrays (2) and blood tests taken for a cough I have been having for about six months due to too much dust(silica). the doctor says the xrays and blood tests are fine. However starting from the day after my chest xrays I started having breathing difficulty, chest tightness and mild shoulder fatigue. Could i have received too much radiation. What prevents a technician from administering too much radiation or using incorrect settings? What are the side effects of Chest X-rays?
