I Had Colon Cancer And Now Have An Colostomy.....I Have

I had colon cancer and now have an colostomy.....I have had the discharge since then and much itching. My doctor,described it to be mucus that oroginally helps the colon pass bowel movements......since my colon does not do any passing, what can I do to help stop/slow down the mucus??
