I Had Gallbladder Removed Laparoscopically One Year After Abdominoplasty Surgery.

I had gallbladder removed laparoscopically one year after abdominoplasty surgery. I never questioned why I had an incision on the left hand side of my body following my gallbladder surgery until about six months ago when I started having symptoms of a hernia neat the incision site. Every website I go to shows all incisions on the right and at the navel. Can you explain WHY an incision was made on the left?and could a laparoscopic incision create a hernia?
