I Had Left Inguinal Hernia Surgery In 2000 And A

I had left inguinal hernia surgery in 2000 and a mesh was put in. Everything worked out fine until about a month ago ( 16 years after the hernia surgery). About a month ago I started having left inguinal discomfort again and thought it felt like a recurrent hernia. I went to my doctor and he didn't detect any hernia but referred me to a surgeon for a second opinion. The surgeon felt that I may have a small hernia and sent me for a CT Scan to see what that showed. It showed no recurrent hernia but an enlarged prostate (transverse diameter of 5.5 centimeters but no large pelvic lymph nodes) and no bowel obstruction and no bone lesion. I am a 68 year old male. The surgeon said no surgery was necessary at this time. Unfortunately I still feel left inguinal discomfort (that to me felt like my old hernia discomfort). This discomfort only occurs after more intense physical activity. It does not occur when I am sedentary (sleeping , laying down or sitting). My wife, who is an orthopedic nurse, suspects a possible labral tear and suggests seeing an orthopedic doctor. My family doctor suggetsed a urologist. Any ideas on a possible cause of this left inguinal pain. I am physically active and would like to remain so but this pain is curtailing my physical activity (treadmill, weights etc.)
