Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had my physical last week and asked for a copy of my lab work which I received in the mail today. I am female and will be 65 in a couple of weeks. I was diagnosed with osteo arthritis positive for and also found to be positive for Hla B27. I had been followed by a rheumatologist for several years but we moved to rural Montana two years ago and have been followed by an internal medicine physician since that time. I don't remember if I got an actual print out of my labs last year or not but the copy I received today had both years values. I have been on Ibuprofen 800mg and had taken three doses a day for at least 5 years with blood tests being done every 6 months. Since being here in Montana, I have only had blood drawn yearly. This years BUN is 26 (last year it was 19). AST is 38 for both years. Mono Auto is 0.7 (last year was 0.6). It was too late to call my doctor when I got home and am a bit concerned at the elevated BUN level. I will call him tomorrow but do you think I should insist on a referral to a rheumatologist in Missoula?
