I Had My Spleen Out In 1992 And Female And

I had my spleen out in 1992 and female and now 62. Am a smoker but trying to quit. I was never told I needed menegititis shot or hib shot. Have now just received these shots aND will get 2nd menigititis shot in 2 months. Is it safe to get a root canal and periodontal scaling and root planing. Should I be premedicated before these procedures. I'm really scared of getting infection or sepsis. But I know I need to get this done. Dentist doesn't think I need to premedicated.
