I Had Nerve Damage From Stenosis In My Cervical Spine

I had nerve damage from stenosis in my cervical spine and had a cervical laminectomy. I also have a herniated disc and stenosis in my lumbar spine. My doc gave me a shot to kill the pain that ran down my leg and numbness throughout my body. My doc gave me gabapentin. What does it do?
