I Had Not Had My Period In Months, Over A

I had not had my period in months, over a year. Now I seem to have it all the time. Days of bleeding, a few days will pass and then a few more days of bleeding, with severe cramps. This is also with what seems to be a great deal of pain in my lower buttocks. What could this be?
