I had some questions regarding Herpes Simplex type 2. My dermatologist cultured a series of blisters on my inner arm and it was confirmed to be HSV2. I understand that generally when someone has a HSV2 outbreak, it is usually on the genitals and that makes sexual partners vulnerable to catching it. I'm concerned because I'm having another outbreak (on my arm) and although my partner is aware I have it, we were both under the impression that since it isn't on my genitals and the blisters are adequately covered, he likely won't catch it. Do I need to make sure he is wearing protection while I have the outbreak? Am I always contagious?
