I Had Spinal Fusion With C5-c7 With A Frame And

I had spinal fusion with c5-c7 with a frame and titanium plate inserted 8.5 weeks ago. Soft collar only when up and moving. Everything was great the first 5 weeks but since then I have had numbness in fingertips, including little and ring fingers, burning across back of my hands, strangely in the heals of my left foot and slight burning on top of my feet. I keep feeling like I have some strange sensations in my legs but when I touch them they feel normal. Most recently in the last week or so I have numbness across my shoulder. I saw my surgeon at 5 weeks and he did a cat scan, said everything was in place as expected, and had X-ray done this week and he is still happy but thinks there might be further compression of the cord because the symptoms are not level specific. He wants wait 6 weeks and then do an mri to see. Why wait that long? Will an mri show with the plate, and is this at all common. I saw a physio yesterday, and while he didn't contradict the surgeon said the numbness in my shoulders could be due to tightness in the muscles.
