Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had swelling and pain in my midsection to my abdomen 4-5 days prior to going to ER. A CT scan showed nothing abnormal so the Dr gave me meds for diverticulitis/diverticulosis. 2 days later I noticed 2 red blotches on my right side and the following morning I had streaks from my spine to my navel button. I went back to the ER and the said I had shingles. Meds were given but my skin had become extremely sensitive to touch, even a breeze would send spasms through my body. 2 days after this set of shingles had dried up I started turning red on the scars left. Went to a second DR and was told I had shingles again. This set has dried up but I have ongoing sensitivity to touch and sharp intermittent pain in my right side of the abdomen. When the pain is not sharp it is a dull pain. This has been going on for over 2 months since last episode and I am still taking 1800 Mg of Gabapentin a day. Nothing seems to kill the pain completely, even with Lidocaine ointment being applied 2=3 times daily along with the pills. Any suggestions?
