I Had Ventral Hernia Surgery Repair A Week Ago, The

I had ventral hernia surgery repair a week ago, the pain has almost subsided however there is still a swollen hard bugle at the incision. It seems to feel heavier after eating too. How can I maximise the recovery of this swelling? Would eating less help? Does drinking alcohol make it worse? I am slender and the bulge is really prominent and uncomfortable. How long is it likely to take to go away and what should I do to avoid making it worse? Thank you!
