I Had What I Thought Was A Boil For About

I had what I thought was a boil for about a year. Yesterday it opened up enough for me to squeeze the stuff out. The stuff that came out wasn't pus and blood like usual. It was a slightly orange, the consistency of peanut butter and had a very bad odor. Can you tell me what it might have been?
