I Have 20% Kidney Function In My Left Kidney. This

I have 20% kidney function in my left kidney. This kidney also has a double ureter. When I drink the recommend daily water intake I get extreme pain in my left side. My urologist has recommend only to worry about it when I get a kidney infection and that we will re address it when it losses all function. I'm just curious for another urologist opinion.
