I have Barretts Esophagus and my physician has recommended that I take a Reclast infusion for my osteoporosis. I already have taken Evista for some time. Evidently it did not good. I am in the middle of
dental implants and have had bone grafts and await the implants in May, followed by crowns and a bridge.
My dentist advised against taking any osteoporosis drugs until the implant process is complete and all healing has taken place. Many osteoporosis medications cause esophagitis and the proton pump inhibitor I take every day, Nexium, takes Vitamin D and calcium out of my system. If heartburn drugs cause osteoporosis and osteoporosis drugs cause heartburn, what do I do? I am taking a Nexium generic now,
which does not work as well. My GI doctor had discussed having a fundoplication, which would also involve
fixing my hiatal hernia. I opted not to do that since I seldom have reflux. Since the cells in my esophagus have changed, surgery could not correct that and I always will need a proton pump inhibitor.
