I Have ITP Low Platelets 20 And On Prednisone For

I have ITP low platelets 20 and on prednisone for last 16months. It has been suggested to try Dapsone as we can't seem to get me off the prednisone. I'm on 5 mgs and have been for last 4-5 weeks. Is it a good option? I'm 75 and have had ITP for past 30 years. lots of side effects with prednisone.
