I Have Lupus. I Have Swelling And Joint Pain And

I have Lupus. I have swelling and joint pain and am taking Mobic. My right wrist, by my thumb, has been hurting more than usual. On Saturday I went to my rheumatologist and he gave me a cortisone shot in my right wrist. During the shot my arm went numb and tingly, I knew he hit the nerve and said as much, but he didn't stop and completed the shot. My hand hurts the same as before the shot, by the thumb and now hurts across my hand and up my arm. My question is could any permanent damage have been done by this one shot? Or will it heal itself in a while? I just wanted to take of myself and didn't need another worry or more pain. Thank you for your time and of course I understand that there is no definitive answer or diagnosis without followup testing.
