I Have A 14 Year Old Male With Lower Abdominal

I have a 14 year old male with lower abdominal pain on the right side and going over to the belly button area, no bumps or bruises. Area is warm to the touch, he complains about sharp pains and a constant pain, no fever, no vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation. Broke out in hives from the pain earlier today and eating causes pain.Took him to the dr and they said it's swollen lymph nodes and didn't do any other tests expect pushing on his abdominal area. So my question is it possible to rule other things like appendicitis without further testing.
