I have a back injury and the doctor prescribed tizanidine Hcl 4 mg and Tylenol #3 and I was taking oxycodone 10 mg. initially. This muscle relaxant just blocks the pain and it does not have any psych meds in it for being such a low dose med. Is this correct. I have ITP, for 14 years with my spleen, doing well and have not had WinRho in over two years, natural and alternative instead with really good diet. Can this tizanidine Hcl interfere with dropping my platelets at all. Isn't the tizanidine just a muscle relaxant only to block pain? The dr. will not prescribe Soma or Flexeril, I think due to the State of Colo. controlling meds and he has to be careful not to lose his medical license or pharmacy to get in trouble with FDA, which has been problem in Colorado. Is this tizanidine safe? Thank you for advisement but not medical advice-- just information. The dr. is ordering a back brace, physical therapy and pool therapy but I am having problems right now with pain. I initially fell two rungs off ladder and then fell and hit the coffee table with my butt and spine and had a hematoma the sixe of dinner plate and it has been healing and no infection. my platelets stayed at 143,000 and then went up 144,000 when taking oxycodone. My body is healing itself with the platelets after 14 years. I had Dr. Susan Delgalvis, hematologist/oncologist and internal med dr. who is now in Alaska and she let me do what ever to get my platelets better with spleen and repeated Winrho. I am getting better but just had this accident . Thank you. Sheryl Huebinger
