I Have A Bite Or Something On My Middle Finger

I have a bite or something on my middle finger right above my nail. It was just a little sore Sunday night like an ingrown nail. I put a little neosporin around the top of the nail. Monday it was sore but by that night was worse. I just cleaned the area good and applied neosporin again. Tuesday it became worse and by evening started throbing and I haven't been able to sleep due to it hurting. My fingers and hand are hurting and my fingers are stiff. I going to my doctor this morning for some blood work for a physical and will let him look at it. Any thoughts? It is hurting pretty bad.
