I Have A Bite Under My Fingernail, It Started By

I have a bite under my fingernail, it started by just being swollen. I woke up this morning and I had bruising and a pus bobble. It hurts really bad. I ran warm water and then took a sterile needle and broke the pus and it drained I put med on it and wrapped it with a band aid. What kind of bit is this and should i be doing something else for it?
