I Have A Callous On My Vocal Cord....steriods Or Meds

I have a callous on my vocal cord....steriods or meds did not help...really cant rest my voice too much because of work Im going back January to discuss "surgery" he couldnt tell me anything about the "after effects" will I sound like herman munster or minnie mouse or cant talk at all surgery is not something I really want to do do I have others options ...thanks
