I Have A Condition Which Was Recognized After Much Research

I have a condition which was recognized after much research by my gynecologist who at first didn't recognize the symptoms. My problem is I have forgotten the name of the condition and would like to read more about it. She had not encountered the condition before it is not very common. I believe the auto immune system is involved. The symptoms are external ONLY. I have itching in the pubic area and scratching can cause the skin to become red and sore. The itching can be severe at times. I have had this for approximately ten years. I have a cream for the itching but there is no "cure". The condition is not limited to women. Men can have it also. With time the area in both men and women can become quite damaged. Can anybody come up with the name?
