I Have A Connective Tissue Disease In My Lungs. And

I have a connective tissue disease in my lungs. And have had it for at least 12 years. I have a breathing monitor which doctors always put on your finger. It continues to read 97-98. But my pulmonary doctor wants to do a cat scan after reading a recent X-ray. Why does the finger monitor continue to read 98-97?
