I Have A-fib (2 Ablations-2007 & 2012; 3 Cardioversions-2006, 2

I have a-fib (2 ablations-2007 & 2012; 3 cardioversions-2006, 2 in 2014) and am taking amiodarone. I was trying to wean off of it with the electrophysiologist's okay. I was taking 50mg/day and almost ready to quit it altogether when, two weeks ago I had a cough/cold and took a cough syrup w/ guaifenisin. It provoked an "episode". (HR in 130s which over the course of the next 7-10 days finally dropped to normal) so I went back to 200mg/day. Not the first cough syrup provoked "episode"Recently, I was prescribed Levaquin for a long-standing sinusitis (I had already taken a 10 day course of Augmentin, which seemed to have beaten it back, but during the cold, it seemed to come back. (The major symptom was tooth pain as if it were a cracked tooth, but that tooth was already capped. I was referred to an endodontist for a possible root canal, but he determined it was not necessary. I'm allergic to sulfas, and it looks like Levaquin is not an option (I haven't taken any yet). The prescribing doctor said another course of Augmentin was not advisable - superbugs and all. Any advice?
