I Have A Friend That Is 82 Years Old And

I have a friend that is 82 years old and just got a lower denture made from acrylic, she is getting mouth sores and is in a lot of pain. She asked her dental professional if she could be allergic to the acrylic and he would not give her an answer. Is this possible?
