I Have A Friend Who Is 38 Years Old And

I have a friend who is 38 years old and in the advanced stages of cancer. She is now in Hospice care and they have started a morphine drip. They told her "six months"... but I'm wondering if it might actually be less since they've started the morphine? How soon before death do they typically start a morphine drip? Thank you.
