I Have A Hard Dental Abscess In My Left Jaw

I have a hard dental abscess in my left jaw from an infected molar that was drained twice last week. There's still swelling and pus draining. My dentist completed the first phase of the root canal with a follow up visit to seal it next week. However, I'm concerned about the severity of the infection since I'm almost done with the antibiotics. Is this normal for an advanced dental abscess?
