I Have A Hard Small Lump In My Right Hand,

I have a hard small lump in my right hand, just above my pointer finger & close to my thumb. I use this hand to write & whenever I have to apply pressure to an object, it causes my pointer, middle finger & thumb to tingle. The lump hurts to touch! It is slightly bruised & definately swollen...what could cause this?
