I Have A Hiatal Hernia And Want To Take Fiber

I have a hiatal hernia and want to take fiber capsules that expand once inside your stomach. If my hernia is active therefore my stomach is bulging into my chest through my diaphram which is blocking food from entering my stomach then what would happen if the fiber pill started expanding before it entered my stomach because of this hernia blocking everything? I'm scared to try these pills because I cannot always tell when my hernia is active. (For lack of a better word) I cannot wrap my head around the internal picture of this happening. Will I not be able to breathe, that can't be right. I want to know what would happen.
