I Have A Hiatal Hernia, Have Had For Years. Normally

I have a hiatal hernia, have had for years. Normally not too much of a problem, but the last few days it is a lot worse. Yesterday it took over an hour for it to stop hurting, and did not stop until I vomited. Is this something I should be worried about living alone like I do?
