I Have A Hole Between My Second And Third Toe

I have a hole between my second and third toe that is
white and about maybe three eighths of an inch deep and it appeared suddenly a couple weeks ago when I stub my toe and it's been painful and the infection seems to have gone but I was wondering what is it what causes it what do I do
