I Have A Huge Hard Knot After Getting A Molar

I have a huge hard knot after getting a molar pulled. Went back & found I have a dry socket but the pain in my cheek is unbearable. He put me on penicillin but the swelling isn't going down. Can I drain that by sticking a small pin hole in the outside of the cheek?
