I Have A Itchy Cough I Had For A Few

I have a itchy cough I had for a few months , it's not as worst as the prior weeks , I have had clear flem come out sometimes , I don't have chest pains or a fever , I can take deep breathes without pain but I don't understand why it's lasting so long ???
