I Have A Large Bruise Running From Just Above My

I have a large bruise running from just above my ankle down to my sol along the inside of my left foot. I fell off my moped and it fell on my left ankle, surprisingly the area that was struck about 2 inches above my ankle hurt but the next day I had an even worse pain that would strike when I put weight on that foot and that was the day the bruise appeared. Its been a week now and the spot just above my ankle just hurts like hell if I brush it against something, the bruise has gone purple below the ankle but the area just above and around the ankle join remains red and tender with spotty redness. Did I strike a vein or other vessel? not sure if I should see a doctor or allow it to just heal on its own.
