I have a large lump on my neck, below my left ear. A CT scan revealed a 51 x 21 x 20 mm heterogeneous mass in the inferior aspect of the parotid gland. Additional 21 x 15 x 16 mm mass noted more superiorly in the left parotid gland. My question is concerning the surgery. What are the physical limitations that I can expect? Is this going to affect my speech, breathing and/or eating? Is rehab common with this type of surgery, when taking into account the size of the masses? Also, is additional cosmetic surgery common, with the size of these masses? If so are there photographs of before and after the cosmetic surgery I can look at? What will happen if the surgery is not performed?
