I Have A Loose Cough And Every Now And Then

I have a loose cough and every now and then I spit out mucus. I've had it for 2 weeks. My chest is starting to hurt from coughing so much. Besides annoying others in the house. I started taking Mucinex last Friday but as of today haven't noticed any change.
